The holidays are here and I have no idea where the month of December has gone. I’ve been busier than a one armed paper hanger and yet, I’m unsure of what I have to show for it. LOL! I can say this though, I do hope each and every one of you has a blessed and peaceful holiday. The time leading up to Christmas can be stressful and harried, but they can also be filled with love, joy and beautiful memories. No matter what holiday you celebrate, I hope it’s all you hope for and that your holiday wishes come true.
I have a few books I thought I should tell you about. Last month, I listened to The Queen of Kings by Maria Dahvana Headley. I didn’t have any expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It’s an enjoyable read and one I think you should check out if you are into Egyptian stories or interesting takes on vampires. This book was a 4.5 for me.

My daughter and I are finally at the last book in the Harry Potter series. So far Deathly Hallows is great, but I’ve had a few gut-wrenching moments as we listen. I’ll let you know my thoughts when we get to the end. We’re only about a third of the way in, so I’m sure I’m in for a dozen or so more waves of emotion. LOL!

It takes the fallen to save the damned.
Harper Sinclair doesn't own any books. If she can avoid it, she doesn't read or write at all. Words are dangerous. Beyond the cover of a book, words rearrange themselves for Harper, becoming messages from beyond. Brutal messages. Terrible messages. When she writes, awful things flow from her fingers. She's a spiritual writer haunted by demons.Lucas Fox is one of the fallen, an angel whose murderous past keeps him from Heaven. Whose protective, chivalric nature keeps him from Hell. He lives between worlds, content to enjoy his vices while doing just enough to keep him out of the underworld. But when Harper is forced to sign a contract for a house she buys in Havenwood Falls, the words that appear aren't her name. Instead, she pens a dire message threatening a fallen angel whose old alliance with a ruler of Hell has made him a target of a powerful demon lord. A warning that draws Lucas Fox to Havenwood Falls to settle old scores and puts Harper Sinclair directly in the line of danger. This is paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls series of New Adult and Adult fantasy novellas featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a collaborative effort by multiple authors. Each book is generally a stand-alone, so you can read them in any order, although some authors will be writing sequels to their own stories. Please be aware when you choose your next read. We do recommend that you read Forget You Not first as an introduction to the town and its eccentricities.
Awaken the Soul: (A Havenwood Falls High Novella) Kindle Edition
Breckin Roberts has known Vivienne his entire life. Born and raised in Havenwood Falls, they attend the same school, eat at the same restaurants, and enjoy the same festivals. But they aren’t friends. They’re merely two classmates—her human and him not so much. Until one fateful December afternoon.
When Vivienne Freeman awakens late that night, disheveled and disoriented, the last thing she remembers is going for a run, but something feels . . . off. It’s not until the gorgeous but ever elusive Breckin Roberts approaches her out of the blue that she learns she almost died. And he’s the one who saved her.
Or so he thought.
Turns out, saving Vivienne has opened her to a whole new kind of danger. Breckin is an angel who interfered with Death. It’s a slight easily forgiven, if not for the connection he awakens while healing her. A connection one Reaper finds highly appealing. A connection that could turn Vivienne into a pawn in the battle of Good versus Evil—a battle about to descend on Havenwood Falls.
Maria Dahvana Headley blends history, romance, and the supernatural for a fantastic tale set in ancient Egypt. Upon hearing news of her husband Antony’s death, Cleopatra is distraught. In an effort to resurrect him, she summons the fearsome warrior goddess Sekhmet. Striking a deal with the deity, Cleopatra pays a terrible price in the bargain and is transformed into a terrifying vampire-like creature whose lust for blood is only matched by her desire to exact vengeance upon those who have wronged her.
