Overall: I give In a Dark, Dark Wood **FIVE*STARS** on all points. In fact, I liked it so much I bought a paperback copy to display on my bookshelf. :D Buy the book in your preferred format, you won’t be disappointed.

Story: I picked up In a Dark, Dark Wood in Target because of the cover, but this quote is what actually sucked me in “What should be a cozy and fun-filled weekend deep in the English countryside takes a sinister turn in Ruth Ware's suspenseful, compulsive, and darkly twisted psychological thriller.” I downloaded it from Audible the moment I got home and started listening to it that day. I was instantly hooked. I’d never listened to an audiobook narrated by Imogen Church but she, like Ruth Ware, draws you in and leaving you wanting more. In a Dark, Dark Wood is a great book with just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Even when I thought I had a clue, I didn’t––well, not completely. That, in my humble opinion, is a great read!

Performance: This was my first audiobook with Imogen Church as the narrator and it most certainly won’t be my last. In fact, so far I’ve listened to four books with her voicing the characters. She’s BEYOND amazing! Imogen does a fantastic job drawing you into the story with her vocal characterization. I can see why Ruth Ware uses her for all her audiobooks.

Overall: A fantastic read!

Story: Ruth’s storytelling is superb. By the first few chapters, you're sucked in and on a mission to find out if your theories of "who done it" are correct. I often thought I had a clue who the villain was but then the story twisted and turned which had me second-guessing my original theory. It's exactly how I want my suspense books to be!

Performance: Imogen Church is beyond fantastic! I love the way she tells the story and she nails the characters' personalities! Bravo to them both! If you haven’t listened to Imogen Church read a Ruth Ware book, run don’t walk to get one.

Overall: I enjoyed the story and think you will too, but if you’re looking for a true twisty-turny mystery/thriller, I’d choose one of the first two I mention.

Story: I’m a fan of Ruth Ware’s writing, have been since I read In a Dark, Dark Wood and Death of Mrs. Westaway, however, The Turn of the Key was not one of my favorites. All the basics are there and it’s a good plot, but I felt it dragged at times. I found that I wasn’t as invested in the characters as I usually am which is the reason for the three-star review.

Performance: I’m fairly certain Imogen Church could read the dictionary and make it something worth listening to! Her narration was superb as usual.

Overall: Another must read/listen by Tarryn Fisher!!

Story: I'm already a huge fan of Tarryn Fisher and this book is no exception. Tarryn is a master of misdirection and with Thursday as the narrator, you're often misdirected. The Wives will be everything you think and then it will change and change again. You'll be sucked into a vortex of needing to know how it ends with nothing left to do but read or listen every chance you get. The truth lies in the ending and there is only one way to get there. Download a copy, buy the paperback or listen to the audiobook...any of them will suffice.  The bottom line, you need to read this book and find out what it means to be one of The Wives.

Performance: If you happen to listen to the audiobook, Lauren Fortgang does a great job voicing Thursday, you won't be disappointed.
